Title: USS Pewterschmidt (NCC-74388)

Notes: One of the many Sovereign class explorer starships operated by Starfleet, the USS Pewterschmidt was constructed and launched from Tranquility Base, Luna. The ship was chosen as a test bed for two recently perfected technologies.

The Pewterschmidt is equipped with enhanced metaphasic shielding, allowing it to travel extremely close within the corona of a star without suffering severe radiation or thermal damage for a time of sixteen hours. She has also been equipped with an interspatial warp drive, built from data collected from the USS Sentinel when that ship was destroyed near the end of the Titan System Incident.

Launched in 2388, the Pewterschmidt is currently commanded by “green” Captain Jurgen Bengsch. On her first assignment to the Dominus Star System, the ship and her crew ended up discovering the remnants of the once-legendary Nightfire civilization.

Near the end of the short (but decisive) Battle of Dominus, the Pewterschmidt had suffered severe breach damage to her saucer section, due to a stray hyper-energized fusion beam striking the ship. She is currently undergoing repairs and refitting at Starbase 212, after which the ship and her crew will undergo reassignment to another sector.
